During my mini-vacation this week, I chatted with Drew Berquist from OpsLens Media Group. We discussed facial recognition implementation. Check it out here: Interview

This was a big week for Homeland Security. Facial recognition was rolled out to select airports, to include the Washington, D.C areas’ Dulles International. As many news outlets noted, this really is a game changer. In fact, during the rollout, an imposter was apprehended by Customs and Border Protection officers as he attempted to use a false passport (Article). The fraudster did not just use a false passport but elicited signs of deception allowing the officers to completely focus in on him.

This technology is key to protecting our homeland, not only by illegal entry but to also track overstays. In 2017, there were over 600,000 visa overstays. The President addressed this in 2017, when he signed Executive Order Executive Order Protecting The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States. (Executive Order)
